Q.

A.

Antiseptic alchohol, 70%

Q.

그래도 자꾸 걱정이 되네요….^^;;

Boric acid solution, Boric acid ointment(Boric acid powder)

Other antiseptics

Antiseptics

• Drugs that can sterilize are called bactericides.

• Neosporin ointment or other antibiotic ointments are not referred to as bactericides, but are treated here for convenience.

• Neosporin ointment or Bacitracin Ointment are antibiotic ointments for external application to the skin. It can be purchased from US pharmacies without a doctor’s prescription.

• It can be used to treat impetigo or bruises or to treat bacterial skin inflammation on the skin. Bactroban cream can only be purchased with a prescription.

• Wash skin abrasions, lacerations, cuts, or other traumatic injuries thoroughly with soapy water and cover with gauze or disposable bandages and perform observational treatment without any medication, or sterilize the trauma with betadine disinfectant and then use gauze You can provide emergency treatment by covering the wound or applying an antibiotic ointment such as bacitracin or Neosporin ointment to prevent the wound from stinging. • After first aid, it is common to apply bacitracin antibiotic ointment or Neosporin antibiotic ointment 4 times a day for about 4 days.

• In the United States, Neosporin ointment or bacitracin ointment can be purchased without a doctor’s prescription by parents at the pharmacy showcase.

• Bactroban antibiotic ointment is a good ointment that can be used to treat impetigo. However, it can be purchased and used only with a doctor’s prescription.

2. Betadine skin cleanser (Betadine skin antiseptics)

betadine_1s.jpg

Picture 122. Betaine skin disinfectant. Copyright ⓒ 2011 John Sangwon Lee, MD, FAAP • Betadine skin disinfectant (betadine solution) is a disinfectant that can kill pathogens such as bacteria and viruses. It is a disinfectant widely used at home and in hospitals. • Betadine skin cleanser is a trade name for Povidone-iodine skin cleanser. • When sterilizing minor wounds on the skin,

• Betadine skin disinfectant is mainly used to sterilize the skin part to be operated on. • Other than betadyne skin disinfectant

• Betaine ointment;

• Betadine Cream,

• Betadine vaginal tablets, etc.

• Wounds such as abrasions and lacerations on the skin can be sterilized with a betadine skin disinfectant.

• If necessary, after washing the skin wound with soapy water, sterilize with betadine skin disinfectant, or first aid with betadine skin disinfectant without washing the wound with soapy water.

• After sterilizing the wound with betadine skin disinfectant, cover it with a disposable band-aid to protect the wounded skin, or cover it with gauze and wrap it with a bandage to provide first aid.

• www.drleepediatrics.com- Volume 1 Emergency Medical Care for Children and Adolescents – See abrasions, cuts, cuts

• Betadine skin disinfectant is sold in several size bottles. • Keep a bottle of Tadyne Skin Sanitizer containing 30cc or a bottle of 120cc at home. It will be useful when you need it

. • Betadine cream disinfectant can be used for almost the same purpose.

• This type of fungicide is of great value as a home remedy. • In the United States, parents buy from pharmacy shelves without a doctor’s prescription and use when needed.

• You can save on medical expenses and prevent dangerous skin infections.

• I think that these medicines can always be kept as a home remedy.

The following is an example of a Q&A for health counseling for children and adolescents on the Internet about “Thanks for your reply, but one more thing… Disinfectant”.

Q&A. disinfectant

Q. Thanks for the reply, just one more thing… Thank you for answering so kindly. I just want to ask you one more thing. The postpartum care center disinfected the baby’s belly button with a disinfectant called betadine and told me to do the same at home. But the pharmacy didn’t have it, so I bought it because it was the same red pill. Of course, I wrote it without any worries.

But when I looked at the packaging yesterday, there were also newborns in the category that it should not be used. It was written that there have been reports of newborns suffering from hypothyroidism. It is a disinfectant ‘povidin’ (iodine solution). I haven’t used it much, but I’m worried… What is the scope and frequency of use?

I was worried after reading the instructions <Disinfect the navel 3 times when the baby is about 3 weeks old, then disinfect the mucous membrane once when taking out secretions in the nose 40 days after birth, and disinfect the back of the ear once on the same day> … I used a little bit by putting it on a cotton bat, is it okay, sir? Because of the mother who used the baby without paying attention and not reading the instructions, she is worried that she will not get better … Raising a baby is really not easy. Please give me an answer… work hard! PS: The teacher responded so kindly that I wanted to move to the hospital, but you are in the US… Be healthy!!

A. Dear Soyeon Hello. Thanks again for the nice question. The disinfectant ‘povidin’ (iodine solution) is a commonly used disinfectant. It can be used to prevent skin infections when minor injuries such as abrasions or cuts occur after being stored at home. It can also be applied once a day to sterilize a newborn’s umbilical cord and navel. You don’t have to worry about using that disinfectant that much.

As a general rule, neither topical medications nor oral medications should be used without a doctor’s prescription or instructions. Most minor skin injuries heal spontaneously without first aid with disinfectants. Providing is a disinfectant commonly used by US hospitals and pediatricians. The component of the drug is the urethra.

The urethral component of the drug may cause an anaphylactic reaction. No need to worry about sterilization treatment already. Before using any of the following medications, be sure to read the instructions on the packaging. In particular, when using the medicine, if you say No, follow No, and if you say Yes, follow Yes. I respect the mother who read the manual. home remedies, See Medications to keep at home and how to use them. If you have any further questions, please contact us again. thank you. Lee Sang-won.

3. 70% Antiseptic alcohol

• 70% sterilizing alcohol is a disinfectant that can kill bacteria, but it is weak.

• 70% sterilizing alcohol is mainly used to disinfect and clean the area of the skin to be injected.

• Can be used for cleaning and sterilizing medical instruments, but is not a strong disinfectant.

• It can be used to clean and sterilize trauma such as abrasions, lacerations, or cuts on the skin with 70% sterilizing alcohol, but it can be quite painful and painful when applied to the wound.

• The effect of betadine skin disinfectant is better than the effect of 70% alcohol disinfectant for sterilization, and it does not hurt when applied to skin wounds such as abrasions. It is better to treat with a fungicide.

• In the past, when a child had a fever, 70% sterilizing alcohol was applied to the child’s whole body to relieve fever. Relief of high fever in children with 70% sterilizing alcohol may reduce body temperature, but may cause hypoglycemia by lowering blood sugar.

• Because there are many types of antipyretic drugs that are more effective and easier to use than 70% sterilizing alcohol, 70% sterilizing alcohol is no longer used to relieve fever these days.

4. H₂O₂ solution (Hydrogen peroxide solution)

hydrogenperoxide_1s.jpg

Photo 6-3. hydrogen peroxide solution Copyright ⓒ 2011 John Sangwon Lee, MD., FAAP

• Hydrogen peroxide solution is a type of skin disinfectant that can kill bacteria. • After washing the wounds such as lacerations, abrasions, or cuts on the skin thoroughly with soapy water, further rinse the wound with hydrogen peroxide for sterilization treatment;

• Skin wounds that have not been thoroughly washed with soapy water can be sterilized by washing with hydrogen peroxide solution.

• After pouring from the hydrogen peroxide liquid bottle, close the bottle cap immediately and store the hydrogen peroxide liquid bottle out of direct sunlight.

• When sterilizing skin wounds with hydrogen peroxide, if there are no bubbles, the hydrogen peroxide solution has no sterilizing effect.

• [Parents should also become at least the half-doctors – Encyclopedia of Pediatric and Family Nursing] – Volume 1 Emergency Medical Care for Children and Adolescents – See abrasions, cuts, cuts.

The following is an example of a Q&A for health counseling for children and adolescents on the Internet about “hydrogen peroxide”.

Q&A. Hydrogen peroxide

Q. Hello.. I am the mother of a 20 month old I think my kid drank some hydrogen peroxide two days ago. She made me vomit right at the time, so I vomited it all up with the milk I drank in the morning. I went to the hospital (this is China now…^^;;) He said it was supposed to arrive within 2 hours, but he said it was a little late (I went after about 3 hours), he said that the area around the uvula was red (he was having a cold..cough and runny nose) He said he didn’t know if it was because of a cold or he drank foreign substances. .. My baby’s condition is good right now…I keep getting worried… I looked everywhere and they said that you should not vomit when you drink a toxic foreign substance.. It can irritate the esophageal wall.. But can 3% hydrogen peroxide also irritate the esophageal wall? The child drinks a lot of water that evening, and she eats rice. I can see the stool easily. I’m still worried…^^;; Is it possible that symptoms may appear after a while? Sorry for the stupid question.. Have a nice day today please answer about my question…. Thank you..

. A. dear mother Hello. Thanks for asking a good question. The more detailed information such as the child’s age, gender, past medical history, family history, examination findings, and clinical examination, the better we can give you an answer, but we will give you an answer based on the information you have given us. How is the weather today in China? There is still a lot of white snow around my house. But it seems that spring is blowing with the wind. I know that there are people who visit my website from time to time, so I am happy to be able to help 80 million Koreans around the world, even a little. Wouldn’t it be great if our beloved North Koreans could also use my website to get a lot of help in raising their children? The reference book “Toxic Poisoning” has the following information: There is one headline: “The following things do not cause health problems in small amounts or in contact with the skin, so they can be observed at home.” It also contains H₂O₂ (3% hydrogen peroxide). As you know, even if you drink a small amount of hydrogen peroxide as a safety accident, you don’t have to worry about it as there are very few health problems.www.drleepediatrics.com- Volume 2 Please read a lot about the prevention of diseases and accidents in children and adolescents. If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact us again. thank you. Lee Sang-won.

5. Boric acid water, dispersion ointment, Boric acid powder, Boric acid solution, Boric acid ointment (Boric acid powder)

• Boric acid water, boric acid ointment, or boric acid powder were commonly used in the past to treat skin infections or to sterilize bacteria infected with skin wounds.

• However, these days, there are many side effects and there are many external disinfectants that are better than the sterilization effect of the boric acid solution.

• Do not treat diaper dermatitis or burns with boric acid water or ointment.

• If a wound on the skin is sterilized and treated with a sterilizing drug for external use, boric acid can be absorbed into the blood through the wound, causing boric acid poisoning, which is dangerous for life.

• For one reason or another, topical disinfectants containing boric acid should no longer be used.

6. Other antiseptics

There are many more types of fungicides, but they are omitted here.
